Please allow me to apologize here first, because I'm not going to
be able to go over every aspect of this high-level restored 1938
Buick Special Convertible with the limited space I have here.
This Buick Special Convertible is among the finest you will ever
see. The paint quality is exemplary, finished in factory original
Corot Beige. Very high quality products were utilized throughout
the process to give this Convertible a “better than factory”
finish.
The Interior, also finished in it's factory original red leather
was upholstered correctly as evidenced by the details such as
stitching and beading.
Restorations of this quality require not only a lot of time and
ambition, but also require countless hours of study to ascertain
that correct components, materials, and proper techniques are
applied consistently throughout.
It's the small things that will speak to a correct, thorough
restoration. Items such as the dash, the instruments, the
accessories, the wiring, and the routing of the wiring, precise fit
and finish in all aspects just to name a few.
This 1938 Buick was factory equipped with a “Self-Shifting”
automatic transmission. Nearly all of the cars that came with the
“Semi-automatic” as it is also called, were replaced by Buick with
a 3 speed manual transmission. This car still retains the original
automatic, and that makes this car even more exclusive.
Take a look at the under carriage and you will see that this is no
ordinary restoration. It was a frame-off, no expense spared,
beautiful everywhere you look restoration.
All of this I mention might give you some idea of how beautiful
this rolling piece of artwork is, and that's fine! However; one
might wonder how well it start, runs, and drives. Well, if you can
see and imagine how well this '38 Special looks, then you can
possibly imagine how easily it starts, imagine how smooth that
in-line 8 runs, and, not only how comfortable and smoothly this
Buick drives down the road, but how impressive it would be to ease
up onto the ramp at a top-level car show!
This 1938 Buick Convertible Coupe series 40 (46-C) is truly one of
the finest of it's kind.
