Vehicle Description
1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
Ford's Thunderbird went through a lot of changes through the years.
From the small birds of the 50s to the Super and Turbo Coupes of
the 80s. They have filled every need, be it a sports car, muscle
car or luxury vehicle, and they have done it all well. First
designed to compete with the Chevrolet Corvette in the 2-seater
roadster market, the 1965 is a much larger, higher optioned big
block cruiser than its predecessor.
Why This Car Is Special
This Thunderbird was a barn find that has been revived and made
road worthy again. It has great options and a lovely color
combination.
Mechanical
The 300 horsepower 390 CID V8 engine still resides under the hood
and is backed by an automatic transmission shifted on the column.
This Thunderbird has a very clean engine compartment and options
including power steering and power brakes. The power top on these
Thunderbirds are an engineering feat, and this one is paired with
power windows.
Interior
Bucket seats, center console and wrap around backseats make these
mid-sixties Thunderbirds a crowd favorite. This particular car has
a black vinyl interior paired with a white soft convertible top.
The sliding speedometer works as it should and the miles of chrome
trim is in excellent condition. These cars are comfortable and
incredibly stylish on the inside and were way ahead of their
time.
Exterior
The Bullet Thunderbird, as they were known, is a streamlined
aerodynamic car. It is a fairly large car, but the sharp edges and
long low body make it look like it's moving, even when sitting
still. This Ford has the fender skirts, white wall tires and
factory hub caps that give it an upscale look. The red paint is in
great shape, as is the chrome, trim and convertible top.
Conclusion
These Thunderbirds don't last long and this one will be no
exception. If you're looking for a mid-sixties T-bird to call your
own, give this car a close look.
