Vehicle Description
The Barracuda was a compact muscle car that was offered by Plymouth
from 1964 till 1974 and featured potent engines and dramatic
styling. The third generation model shared its platform with the
Dodge Challenger and was offered for just the 1970 and 1971 model
years. A large number of different engines were offered in a coupe
and rare convertible body styles.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this unique 1970 Plymouth
Barracuda Gran Coupe for your consideration. The rare Gran Coupe
was the top of the line trim package and very few were ordered with
the convertible body style. The package was an upscale option and
included features such as more bright exterior trim, wood grain
trim, dual chrome mirrors, Rallye instrument cluster and a chrome
luggage rack. This particular car was optioned from the factory
with a a 383cid V8, 4bbl carb, and a 4-speed manual. The options
list means that this is extremely rare and according to
documentation from Chrysler, only 17 were made in this
specification. The car was fully restored by Aloha Automotive in
2002. The car underwent a full restoration and used only factory
parts. The car was painted In-Violet purple during the restoration.
The engine is rebuilt to original specifications and is numbers
matching to the vehicle. A Keisler transmission kit is currently
installed with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, hydraulic
clutch, and the original Pistol Grip shifter. Factory Power disc
brakes, power steering with Rimblow-woodgrain steering wheel,
cruise control, AAR rear sway bar, and fog lights complete the
options list. A factory shaker hood was added and is functional.
The exhaust is upgraded with Headman Headers and a TTC dual exhaust
with flowmaster mufflers. An Edelbrock manifold and carb, as well
as an MSD ignition were installed to increase drivability. A lot of
the original parts such as the numbers matching transmission will
be included in the sale.
There are countless amounts of paperwork and documentation that
will accompany this rare bit of Mopar history. Numbers matching and
a full restoration mean that this is undoubtedly a collector piece
that also happens to be an excellent driving car. Inquire for more
