Vehicle Description
This is an excellent example of the car many auto enthusiasts
credit with starting the muscle car boom of the 1960s. By the end
of the era all four major American auto companies were competing in
the muscle car category. The success of the GTO established
Pontiac's brand as a performance based line with great sales
numbers.
Painted a bright Montara Red, this two door GTO hardtop comes with
complete PHS documentation. The owner says this vehicle has been
completely restored and repainted in the Montara red, a Pontiac
color, rather than the original Capri Gold and the interior has
been redone in Parchment and black to create an even more striking
GTO.
According to the owner, this is a numbers matching car with the
original 389 cu. in. V8 producing 360 hp. with the Tri-power
carburetor option (3/2). The four-speed transmission features the
desirable wide ratio gearing. The differential axle ratio is
3.55/code F.
The 1965 GTO featured improved brakes with heavy-duty shocks and a
stronger front sway bar. This car has power brakes as well as power
steering.
The dashboard features the optional Rally Gauge Cluster with
tachometer as well as the Custom Sports Steering Wheel. Bucket
seats in the front and a bench seat in the back. There is also an
AM/FM radio.
New red line tires add to the look of this exceptional GTO. This
car is a certain award winner and will turn the head of any muscle
car enthusiast.
