The 2008 Shelby GT500 was an awesome machine straight from Ford's
Special Vehicle Team. At the time, its 500 horsepower ranked as the
most powerful production Mustang ever offered to the public. In Las
Vegas at Shelby Automobiles (now Shelby American), Carroll Shelby's
band of Hot Rodders viewed the GT500 as a great starting point for
their Super Snake conversion, which added additional performance
upgrades along with more traditional Shelby styling. This 2008
Shelby GT500 Super Snake is CSM No. 08SS0121. A one-owner car with
4879 miles, the Red-on-black Mustang coupe is essentially a
brand-new Super Snake that was "touched" by the Shelby factory, a
build that also added the top-level 725 HP Kenne Bell supercharger
option along with a JBA exhaust system. The 2008 Super Snake
package was more than pavement-peeling power. To improve handling,
Shelby's technicians bolted in Ford Racing's Handling Pack, plus
Baer 6-piston brake calipers and cross-drilled rotors behind the
20-inch, 10-spoke Alcoa wheels. Externally, the Super Snake differs
from the standard GT500 with a unique carbon-composite hood with
forward scoops and hot-air extractor vents, carbon-fiber front
splitter and rocker panels, brake cooling ducts, upper and lower
side scoops and Shelby lettering across the trunk. The interior is
enhanced with a center gauge cluster, Carroll Shelby signature head
rests, Super Snake doorsill plates and official Shelby CSM dash
plate with the ultra-low serial number. In addition to the
supercharger, the 5.4L V-8 is treated to the Shelby engine dress-up
kit with billet-aluminum fluid caps and oil dipstick handle.
