Vehicle Description
This is an award winning and low mileage example of the classic
2-door M5 pickup truck from Studebaker restored with meticulous
attention to detail and authenticity. Much of the pickup is brand
new.
This truck is truly award winning including the 2014 AACA National
First Place and was Favorite Truck in the 2015 Hemming's Concours
D'Elegance Cruise-in Spectacular.
First produced before World War II, the Studebaker pickup truck won
fame during the war for its sturdy military service. Even before
the end of the war, the government allowed Studebaker to again
start building the civilian version.
This half-ton beautifully rebuilt workhorse has only 73,572 actual
miles on the odometer. Repainted in the original factory green in
2013 it boasts a new interior in brown and tan leatherette
upholstery on the bench seat.
Known as an M5 version it features a rebuilt motor with all new
parts. This is the famed 170 cubic inch flat head six with the
popular Carter single barrel carburetor. The motor puts out 80 hp
and this truck cruises down the road smoothly and "whisper" quietly
at 65 MPH according to the owner.
The gearbox, with floor-mounted shift, has been rebuilt and
features Bock Warner overdrive with all new parts. The drive train
is also all-new.
This detailed restoration includes all new wiring, new brakes, new
shocks and new steering gear.
The current owner has traced the history of this truck back to 1975
and has titles and registration to the current day. The sale will
include a number of books, guides and manuals for this 1947
Studebaker M5 half-ton 2-door pickup.
Estimate: $30,000-$35,000
