Vehicle Description
1968 Ford Mustang Coupe
The 1968 Mustang was the first year for several things, most
notably the 302 V8 engine. It is also the only year a VIN plate was
put on the passenger side of the dash, and one of only two years of
this body style (67-68).
Why This Car Is Special
Horsepower. That is what makes this Mustang special. The most
desirable color combination doesn't hurt either.
Mechanical
A 351 Windsor is stroked to 393 cubic inches of raw power. A Holley
4-barrel carburetor sits atop a Weiand Stealth aluminum intake and
feeds Edelbrock Performer Aluminum heads. The ignition is handled
by an MSD 6AL box and the exhaust duties are left to very capable
Hooker headers running to true dual exhaust with glass packs. This
car sounds like a built big block at idle but still revs fast and
easy like a small block. This powerhouse is mated to a modern
5-speed manual transmission, to keep you in control at all times.
Front disc brakes provide the stopping power, and power steering
makes light work of tight turns.
Interior
The interior is basically stock 1968 Mustang. The exceptions are a
Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette player, the 5-speed shifter and a couple
extra gauges mounted under the dash. The black vinyl bucket seats
with seat belts are in great shape, as is the carpet, door panels,
dash and headliner. A Grant GT steering wheel is a nice touch and
doesn't detract from the classic interior. The stock Mustang
steering wheel had a large unsightly center section, so most would
consider this a cosmetic upgrade.
Exterior
A bright red Mustang is what most people think of when they think
'classic car'. This Mustang looks great in red, with American
Racing Torque Thrust wheels, rocker panel moldings and just enough
chrome and brightwork to tie it all together. The front end of
these 67-68 Mustangs is killer with the pony in the corral and the
functional inverted hood scoops with turn signal indicators. They
were a cool touch then, and still look great today. This car has a
great look that is sure to get you noticed.
Conclusion
Mustangs are always popular, and the 60s cars move fast. If you're
searching for a Mustang coupe with good power and great looks,
you're search is over!
