1965 was the first year for the second generation of the Chevrolet
Corvair, and featured many updates and improvements over the first
generation car. The biggest change was to the Corvair's suspension,
eliminating the issues that arose from the earlier swing arm
design. This in combination with bigger brakes, softer spring rates
up front, and the addition of more power makes the second
generation Corvair a very desirable car. This particular Corvair is
a "Monza" model with the up level 140hp, 2.7L air cooled flat six
cylinder engine with four single barrel carburetors and dual
exhaust. This engine is mated with a 4-speed manual transmission
that makes this Corvair a lot of fun to drive. The exterior of this
Corvair is painted Regal Red with a newer bright white vinyl
convertible top with vinyl rear window. This combination is very
head turning, and is accented nicely by the chrome "spinner" wire
wheel covers and thin white wall tires. Inside are black vinyl
bucket seats that tilt far forward to give excellent access to the
spacious rear bench. This is a pretty well equipped car for its day
also, with the "Monza" package, deluxe chrome wheel well trim and
rocker moldings, factory seat belts, Delco AM radio, factory tach,
warning lights for voltage, fan, temp, oil pressure, and is in like
new condition throughout. There is period luggage included under
the hood and lots of documentation including the original sales
brochures. This is a very unique chapter in American automotive
history, and is sure to grow in popularity as the years slip by. If
you would like to have some fun in the sun with one of America's
only rear engined automobiles, stop by or email
