Vehicle Description
The 1976 Pontiac Trans Am is one of those perfect year cars. A very
well integrated design met with the still beating heart of an
American muscle legend. So you know it's something special when you
can find one that looks this good, and it still has its original
400ci motor... all for an obtainable price.
Sterling Silver is a great factory-correct color. After all, '76
had a unique design that was the first year for the fully
integrated urethane bumpers that give this Pontiac a uniform
appearance of a more modern sports car. And that modern appearance
is furthered by a great shine from a modern professional respray.
Plus, you get all the great Trans Am touches like the factory body
kit, shaker hood, fender vents, and full-length rear spoiler. But
what really steals the show is the full decal package. It looks
like they invested heavily during the respray to make sure the that
the red, black, and gray pin-striping all around the car was the
ideal match for the iconic hood bird. So it has the look of quality
from every angle. Topping off this total package are Pontiac's
"Honeycomb" wheels. They're a great feature to have, especially
since '76 was the final year these performance icons were offered
from the factory.
Black interiors always look great on these T/As, but when the
textured vinyl seats look this well preserved, they just seem extra
inviting. Full instrumentation was standard on Trans Ams, including
the tach/clock combination. The dials look great set in the
aggressive machine-turned instrument panel. Ahead of that the
driver gets the three-spoke sports steering wheel that should be
quite familiar to Pontiac fans. In fact, this one has a great
correct feeling that comes from factory features still on display
like the 8-Track stereo. There are even factory power windows. A
nice added bonus, you can verify all these options that came with
this loaded T/A thanks to the window sticker that comes with the
sale.
The 400 cubic-inch V8 is this car's original, numbers-matching
motor. No one will have no trouble believing you when you tell them
that. It retains a very stock appearance of everything from the
corporate blue engine enamel on the block, to the air cleaner that
still correctly inhales through the front. The four-barrel
carburetor inhales deeply, and the V8 loves to howl when you get up
into the higher rev ranges. But more than just listening to the
dual exhaust, follow its path in the undercarriage photos. The
super clean appearance tells you this has the right
preservation/restoration, and the sway bars front & rear remind you
of the T/As reputation for handling capable handling. Plus, this is
a great all-around cruiser with nice features such as the
three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc
brakes.
You're going to be showing off a coupe like this, so it's good that
it comes with the right paperwork. This includes owner's manual,
Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation, and the
aforementioned original window sticker. Such a distinct and clean
Trans Am shouldn't be this affordable. That's why you know you need
to hurry before someone else takes advantage of this deal. Call
