For Sale: 1967 Pontiac GTO in Doylestown, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Very original numbers-matching GTO which I have owned since June of 1982.  I purchased this car in Cincinnati, Ohio with 110K on the odometer then drove it approximately 3000 miles during the Summer/Fall of 1982.  I have driven this car less than 1500 miles since the Fall of 1982.

I began to work on and restore the car in 1983.  It was completely media-blasted and re-painted the OEM Mariner Turquoise color in 1983-1984 and topped with urethane clearcoat.  The black vinyl top was also replaced with a correct matching material and correct two-seam installation.  New carpeting was installed.  The black interior is otherwise all original with a small piping loss on the driver's seat.  Needs the woodgrain dash reveal installed and I have purchased the correct applique from Year One.  Trunk is splatter-painted with correct spare tire, jack and decals.  The only body repairs that were needed and performed was to repair some slight corrosion damage in the lower quarter panels below the trunk floor (lower couple inches) and a small hole rusted in the rear window channel which was caused by clogged windshield drains.

The engine is the correct and original 400 motor with 335 horsepower.  Heads are the correct and original 670 castings.  This car is a late 1967 production vehicle (original date stamp on the firewall is May 10, 1967) so it came with the late-production Quadrajet carb.  When I purchased the car it had a Holley 4V carb which I replaced with the correct year of Quadrajet carb which is quite a unique carb.  The transmission is the correct and original Turbo 400 automatic with the original Hurst Dual-Gate shifter.  The car has factory Air Conditioning which was not operating when I bought the car and which I have never had operating, but all the parts are installed.  Other options include Power Steering, Power Brakes and Lamp Group.  I have a full instrumentation set-up from a parts car which is un-installed but will be included with the GTO.

The wheels are original 14" Pontiac Rally II's.  The fronts are the OEM 14 x 6" with new Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires which were installed a year ago due to dry-rot cracking on the old Goodyear Power Cushion tires.  The rears are non-original-sized 14 x 7" with a vintage set of Goodyear GT RWL tires (with tubes) which I installed in 1983 but are likely mid-1970's tires.

This GTO is something of a "time capsule" because it is quite original, as described above.  I have not done very much to the car whatsoever in the past 20 years.  I simply have lacked time to even drive it due to the fact we have a family of four boys.  This car has always been kept indoors at my parents' garage for 13 years then at my house after we built our home in 1995.  The primary things which could be addressed on this car include re-chroming the bumpers, adding the wheel-well reveal mouldings (they were missing when I purchased the car and I like the look), re-work the OEM air conditioning and install the woodgrain dash applique.

Over the past 15 years my interests have gravitated more toward custom motorcycles and I have grown a hobby of custom-painting bikes into a rather nice small side business.  My 4-bay outbuilding has become increasingly devoted to my motorcycle business and the final bay where this GTO sits may be very useful for that growing enterprise.  My wife keeps telling me not to sell this GTO because our four boys will want it... but I cannot divide the car into four parts for them!  After much consideration I have decided to put the car up for sale despite my 36-year attachment to it.
