Introduced in 2002, the Hummer H2 was a follow up to the iconic H1
of US military fame. While the H1 was a little more than a painted
version of the military HUMVEE, the H2 was based on a combination
of HD frames from GM trucks. It offered significantly more
refinement but still the same rough and tumble look that customers
demanded. Off-road, it paled in comparison, but interior space,
road manners, comfort, and even efficiency improved. Initially
offered with a 6.0L gasoline V8 engine, the H2 had decent power and
was even rated for around 10 mpg.
