2008 Porsche 911 Carrera S
The Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette have pulled off the neat
trick of remaining thoroughly modern yet utterly timeless. The
latest models of a Porsche, look a lot like the car that rolled
into the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, making it instantly
recognizable even to people with no interest in cars.
Fast forward to 2008, with the model 997 of the Carrera design
evolution. A mere 18,500 miles have been clocked since its
purchase. The consigner sprung for the S upgrade, as well as a
fully loaded and upgraded version. This car is very clean, very
nice, very fast, and very respectable!
Exterior
Black Pearl Metallic in beautiful unscathed condition, wraps the
exterior of this Carrera S. A sunroof, retractable spoiler, and
near perfect sheet metal are all there with showroom gaps where
those panels meet. For 2008 oval headlights with the Xenon option
and separate signal light fit aerodynamically in the front.
Minimalist chrome brightwork is seen but is all in excellent
condition. Exterior glass is unscathed, and power windows raise and
lower in a flash.
Interior
Sand Beige leather seats with stitching accents, create two bucket
seats that feel like you are being hugged from behind, tightly, and
securely. A 2+2 Split seat with fold down backs, make up the rear
seating area, or just can be kept down and create more stowage
space. Leather stitched door panels show power window switches,
power locks, a joystick side view is there to make fine adjustments
while on the road. A wonderful swooped dash gauge cluster shows off
white field and black analog number/letter gauges. Some electronic
menus are available, and mileage is clocked digitally. A center
console houses more essential gauges, as well as a navigation
screen, digital radio, and CD Player. A climate control center, and
heated seats are there for the taking, and all are functioning
well.
Drivetrain
A flat 6-cylinder, normally-aspirated, water-cooled, double
overhead camshaft mill produces 355hp @ 6600rpm. Double port fuel
injection pours fuel into the combustion chambers. Carbon fiber air
intakes are seen and definitely reduce weight. This performance is
all connected to a 6-speed manual transmission and drives the rear
wheels. Ventilated disc brakes are seen all around and are fronted
by Porsche standards wheels.
