Vehicle Description
1978 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Mention the name Corvette and immediately someone in the
conversation will perk up and pay attention. It's a timeless
American sports car and has gone through several personality
changes. From the 2-seat coupe when first introduced, to a fast
50's classic, to the Stingray Versions of the 1960's and early
1970's. By the 25th year, engineers were all but finished muddling
through the power struggle with emissions and the 25th anniversary
Corvette was born
A 25th Anniversary Corvette who some have argued that next to the
Stingrays, this is the nicest curved design. This Corvette presents
in fair condition but it's all there for someone to take it, tweak
it, and have a really nice version. A federal mandated ignition
change for 1978 was performed, however is currently not working,
hence car is started with a button that is under the front of the
drivers bucket.
Exterior
Mahogany fiberglass appears in good condition. Small areas of
cracking and crazing are present, but sparse. A removable "T" top
matching body color on exterior, and interior color on ceiling,
comes with the car, and has the original vinyl storage bags.
Original to the Corvette for 1978 wheels are all around, as are new
tires, but purchased to original 1978 specs. Aerodynamic door
actuators are chromed and flush with the door.
Interior
Light beige leather buckets stretch from door to door and are
interrupted by a shift and power window actuator console. This
console curves skyward and houses the air conditioner/heat, and fan
controls. As we move upward an AM/FM radio is imbedded, as well as
a cluster of gas, temp, clock, amps, and oil pressure analog
gauges. A speedometer and tachometer are fronted by a stock
steering wheel, showing 3 spokes and wrapped in Light Beige
leather. Beige carpeting shows some staining but is in overall fair
condition. Power doo locks, power windows, hidden headlights, air
conditioning, power steering, as well as power brakes are present.
A decent sized compartment, carpeted, is seen behind the
buckets.
Drivetrain
The original 350ci 4-barrel V8 engine is seen in a good condition
engine bay. Matching numbers can be verified with photos with
engine number and vin number. Engine is the specified L48 and puts
out 350hp. A 3-speed automatic transmission (numbers matching) puts
power down to the wheels.
A 1978 25th Anniversary Corvette presenting in fair condition.
Matching numbers, all original except for a high quality repaint to
match original Chevrolet Mahogany. A few items of note: Will need
exhaust pipe replacement, (pre-muffler), starter issue redone to
eliminate button, and a good interior exterior and engine
detailing. A solid car showing 31,410 miles.
