Vehicle Description
Wearing a distinctive but original exterior color that sets it
apart from the crowd, this 1980 Chevrolet Corvette is one very
sharp looking third generation specimen of one of the most coveted
nameplates to ever hit American streets. It sports numbers-matching
power under its hood and drives impressively well while also
offering the exhilarating option of open air driving at your
choosing.
You just don't see too many 'Vettes on the street wearing the Frost
beige color this one is decked out in. It's the very selection off
the '80 color chart that it began life with and an obviously
meticulously applied respray has brought out the best in its
understated yet magnetic curb appeal. This true American sports car
has come through its nearly four decades of service in strong
fashion - not only will you not find any stress cracks marring its
exterior but, as a closer look will reveal, the exterior alignment
on this '80 continues to impress. The gaps surrounding its body
panels are nice and even, and the prominent hood and doors open and
close very smoothly. Hidden headlights were a defining feature of
its generation and, unlike so many you come across, these raise
into position without issue and sit very flush when lowered. The
T-top configuration, allowing you to quickly transition from open
air motoring to a more sheltered driving experience, is a great
benefit and the roof panels on display here retain their sharp
mirror finish and seal well when locked into place.
The doe skin interior - a very appealing shade of tan - is in flat
out great shape. Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by surfaces
that really don't show much in the way of wear. The contoured
buckets aren't marred by any creasing or discoloration and offer
plenty of comfort, as well as pronounced bolstering for support
during more spirited driving. Up front, the dash area also presents
very well, with clear, functional gauges in the cluster that extend
to its center, and a very fresh looking pad running across the top.
Comfort and convenience features include a steering column that
both tilts and telescopes to arrive at the perfect position, power
windows and air conditioning that's running nice and strong to keep
you and your passengers comfortable. While the Corvette's identity
is and always has been centered on that of a performance-centric
sports car, there is some usable space directly behind the bucket
seats.
The engine compartment remains in factory configuration and has
likely seen a trip or two to a steam cleaning facility to maintain
its tidy look. The original, numbers matching 350 cubic inch V8
sits at its center, looking nicely detailed. It sports a fresh
running condition to match its appearance - carrying a correct
Quadrajet 4-barrel carb on top, this powerplant starts up promptly
and runs very smoothly while sending a nice, throaty rumble into
the headers leading to its dual exhaust. The engine teams with a
3-speed automatic transmission that's shifting securely and
precisely to make up a rock solid drivetrain. Smooth power
steering, added to the Corvette's low, road-hugging stance, makes
it a very adept corner carver, while power disc brakes at all four
corners bring it to dependable, fade resistant stops as needed. The
view from below reveals a very solid looking undercarriage and this
well-restored Chevy classic cruises on a set of 15" stock Corvette
rims that are outfitted with General tires.
Super sharp and in very strong, ready to drive condition, this 1980
Chevrolet Corvette would be a great addition to any collector's
garage. Call today!
