Vehicle Description
1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible
The Mercury Cougar is the sister car to the Ford Mustang and is a
more luxurious of the two. It does a great job of combining muscle
car performance with every option you could want in a 1972.
Why This Car Is Special
This Cougar is incredibly well optioned with the XR7 package, power
steering, power brakes, A/C, aluminum alloy wheels, radial tires,
power windows, power locks, center console, high back bucket seats,
rim blow steering wheel, AM/FM radio, power convertible top, black
vinyl interior and seat belts.
Mechanical
The 351 engine is as stock as they come and is backed by an
automatic transmission that shifts on the floor. The Ford 351 is
legendary for power and dependability. It can be left as it was
from the factory, or there is an endless supply of aftermarket
power adders available.
Interior
High back bucket seats welcome you into the plush interior. The
Cougar emblem emblazoned on the seat backs, door panels, steering
wheel and the XR7 emblem on the dash are a nice touch. A center
console offers storage and an armrest for you and your passenger
while seat belts keep you safe. Drop the top at the push of a
button with the automatic power top and crank some classic rock on
your AM/FM radio. A convertible top boot also comes with the car
for a more buttoned up look when the top is down.
Exterior
Not much looks better than black on a classic car, and this Cougar
is no exception. Deep glossy black paint is set off with a white
convertible top and polished Ridler wheels. Cooper Cobra raised
white letter tires give this car a bit of a muscle car feel. The
split grill with four headlights adds to the overall muscle car
vibe. This car has just enough chrome to walk that line between
muscle and luxury, and is just as at home amongst Lincolns and
Cadillacs as it is with Camaros and Cudas.
Conclusion
This Cougar has great documentation including the original owner's
manual, original advertising book and receipts for work performed.
Don't miss your chance to own a well optioned, well documented
great looking 1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 convertible.
