Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop
The Chevrolet Bel Air is one of the most recognized and beloved
classics of all time. Its clean lines, tasteful trim and excellent
proportions make for the 1957 version to be a favorite of the
Tri-Five fans. The fins were just right, grille proportions correct
and it undoubtedly the most desirable of the group.
This example is a restored 57 Bel Air Hardtop, with newer stock
paint, seat and door panel fabrics, carpets and headliner which
uses colors that match the data plate. Fitted with a crate 350ci
Chevy engine and a rebuilt Powerglide transmission, this classic
can be driven anywhere with confidence.
Exterior
The correct Onyx Black acrylic urethane envelopes the car like a
warm glove, and is in very good condition. All brightwork
beautifully polished, or replaced new, with arrow straight panels,
as well as bumpers and a grille that would make any drive-in proud.
Glass is seen as immaculate, and all exterior lighting is clear and
in working condition.
Interior
Between the doors sits a beautiful patchwork of 1950's motif fabric
featuring black panels smattered with a silver atomic age pattern,
silver bolsters, and cool chrome seat buttons. A metal dash adorned
with textured aluminum, a repro to look original, sound system
which sports AM/FM MP3, and USB capability sits in the middle.
Silver paint adorns a 3 protruding can-shaped analog instrument
cluster, and is fronted by an original and very clean steering
wheel. A new headliner stretches from window to window, and
matching door panel motif similar to seats, frames the passenger
compartment. Lavish black deep pile carpeting covers the entire
floor.
Drivetrain
The originals 283ci power plant has been replaced by a brand new
crate 350ci engine with 325hp. A smidge over 500 miles has been
logged on this new engine. A rebuilt Powerglide tranny, new power
steering, power disc brakes up front, an aluminum radiator, two
speed wiper motor stock aluminized steel dual exhaust, Coker
Classic wide white wall tires, new weatherstripping and battery
have been performed during this restoration. Undercarriage is clean
and has been rustproofed, however a real close look by our Tri-Five
Chevy expert does show some underlying degradation with the body
mounts, a known problem with this group of automobiles. Close-up
photos can be examined in the group of photos with this car.
This Chevy favorite is a beautiful presentation with careful
attention to remain with original colors, but with fab retro new
fabrics and textures. This tasteful atomic design, mixed with the
new engine creates a crowd pleaser, and award winner, and a head
turner, as well as a go anywhere classic car.
