Vehicle Description
This 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS is a true O.G. of the boulevard.
While earlier models have certainly come to establish themselves as
a part of car culture, you'd be hard pressed to find any that are
more "front of mind" than this one when you conjure images of
classic rides vying for attention on the street. It's been
skillfully restored and features an impressive level of originality
- this vintage Chevy not only wears its original colors both inside
and out, but also harbors its original powerplant under the
hood.
Early Impalas went through an unusual production trajectory, in
that Chevy worked its way through several generations of the model
in a span of around four years until they arrived at their third
iteration, which would prove a decided winner. Sportier and more
compact than preceding generations, this '63 wears its original
Saddle tan shade well and the paint itself has a very clean look to
it, with nice even coloring and a very smooth texture. The
dividends of an exacting, professional restoration are evident -
the body alignment on this Impala is very much on point, with nice
even gaps surrounding its panels and doors, hood and deck lid that
open and close very easily. Its array of trim looks very strong -
the view from the front, with the intricate grille situated between
a very clean, colorful Chevy emblem above and unblemished bumper
below, is striking and as you make your way to the back, you'll
come face to face with one of Chevy's most inspired styling cues of
the era - the textured, engine-turned taillight panel.
The interior is still clad in its original Saddle color and looks
great. You'd have to look long and hard for any obvious signs of
wear on the surfaces of the low backed bucket seats up front or the
bench seat in back and both sit over an expanse of tan carpeting
that looks like it's been treated with plenty of respect. The dash
area just beyond the generously-sized original steering wheel is
another very strong suit on this Chevy. The gauges in the
instrument cluster are unusually clear and there's a very sharp
looking engine-turned accent on display just below, as well as one
more dressing up the center console. A retro-style AM/FM/CD stereo
sits at the center of the dash, teaming with a pair of speakers on
the package shelf and a CD changer in the trunk to handle your
audio needs. The trunk area itself is spacious and in very clean
condition, with a full-size spare properly stowed on its own shelf
standing by.
The engine compartment has a convincing stock look to it and has
received its share of attention to bring it to its current
well-detailed condition. A 327 cubic inch V8 - a signature Chevy
small block and the very one this classic began life with - sits at
the center, wearing a pair of sharp looking chrome valve covers and
a period-correct black air cleaner. It's been armed with an
Edelbrock carb and intake manifold for some added power and teams
with the original 2-speed automatic Powerglide transmission. It's a
very healthy sounding powerplant and sends a great throaty note out
of its dual exhausts. Power brakes bring this classic to low-effort
stops, while power steering makes it easy to navigate on its set of
14" stock Chevy wheels featuring factory Super Sport hub caps and
wrapped with Mastercraft tires.
You don't come across the level of originality this 1963 Chevrolet
Impala SS features very often - and its impressively clean
condition makes it that much rarer. Call today!
