For Sale: 1961 Lincoln Continental in Arlington, Texas

Vehicle Description

1961 Lincoln Continental Custom

The Lincoln was first commissioned in 1939 by Edsel Ford and used as a convertible vacation vehicle with the goal to attract potential Lincoln buyers towards a new full size luxury car. Many actually give the Lincoln credit as introducing an entirely new style of vehicle known as the personal luxury car. The model "Continental" was given due to some of its European stylings and they proved to be a popular vehicle as it lasted for 8 decades. Between 1961 and 1976 they were actually the only model produced by Lincoln. This cool Continental is from the first year of the 4th generation and while it is still Lincolns personal luxury car this one definitely adds to that with customizations that make it look really tough. It has been completely blacked out from front to rear which includes all of the chrome, trim, and emblems. When it pulls up you can almost imagine a super villain or mobster stepping out. Ask younger hotrodders or your kid about this style and you will learn it is considered "murdered out." Whatever you call it I think we can all agree it looks good. Just imagine how much time and effort is put into making every little piece Black! These cars always have a really cool stance with their long bodies and sleek styling. The only thing cooler is opening it up to reveal the factory suicide rear doors. Black spoke wheels ride under all four corners of the car and work perfectly with the overall look.

Pop the forward opening hood and you will see the original style 430 V8 motor that runs well. Everything has mostly a stock appearance with the motor except for the Black circle air cleaner. All of these cars came with a 3 speed automatic transmission and this one moves through the gears with no issues. All of the brakes and suspension components are stock but are working well without problems.

The interior of the car is complete in Black and the upholstery on the seats has been redone. It has a split bench up front with folding arm rest and the same in the rear. The dash is all stock with the original style gauges, knobs, switches, etc. It has factory power windows, power seats and air conditioning. The dash pad is a little faded but would be a pretty minor fix should you decide to change it out. These cars are pretty popular and Continentals have a following all their own. It is pretty common to see them priced in the 40K range and higher depending on the level of restoration.
