Vehicle Description
Virtually any vintage Cuda offers plenty of awesomeness by virtue
of its outstanding style and distinguished pedigree, but this 1970
Plymouth Cuda AAR takes things to an even higher level. This
special edition muscle car is the street version of the All
American Racers piloted by legendary drivers Swede Savage and Dan
Gurney in the 1970 Trans-Am Series and not only wears its original
colors both inside and out, but still carries its original powerful
engine under its hood, fed by a signature MoPar fuel delivery
system that's operating in top form. It will also roll into its
next home with its factory build sheet on hand as proof of its
authenticity.
The code B51 Blue shade, ornamented by a matte-black hood and
segmented stripes running the length of its sides, is the same
color scheme this top tier Cuda rolled off line with nearly a half
century ago and it presents very well, even at close range and the
black hood is a work of art all by itself. A lap around the car
will reveal its precise body panel alignment: the hood, doors and
deck lid all feature nice even gaps, and the black vinyl roof is
very clean and well-fitted. The front grille has a very fresh
appearance and the placement of a pair of crystal clear fog lights
over the front air dam makes for a very striking look. This is a
very sharp, well-restored classic.
There's a great looking vinyl interior inside the doors. From all
appearances, there hasn't been much activity going in and out of
the cabin, so the surfaces of the front buckets and rear bench seat
seem pretty much just as they did following their installation. The
clean black carpeting lining the floor features a pair of floormats
up front branded with blue Cuda lettering to offer a great
contrast. Just behind the stock steering wheel, the instrument
cluster looks exceptionally fresh and the trunk area shows the same
attention to detail as the rest of the car and you can see from its
exposed inner wheelhouses that it was well-prepped before being
painted to match the exterior.
The original 340 cubic inch V8 still sits under the hood in a very
clean engine bay, wearing its properly badged orange air cleaner
and surrounded by inner fenders and a firewall painted to match the
car's exterior. The engine is fed by a signature MoPar fuel
delivery system of the era - the Six Pack - made up of a trio of 2
barrel carbs. This configuration helped power some of their most
memorable cars of the era and it's in very good form here - this
classic Plymouth fires up quickly and runs smoothly, teaming with a
3-speed automatic TCI A727 transmission to make up a rock solid
drivetrain. The undercarriage has been coated for protection from
the elements and features recently replaced bushings and shocks to
up ride quality. Power steering makes for easy navigation and four
wheel power brakes that include discs up front bring things to a
prompt, low-effort stop as needed as this very special Plymouth
cruises on its set of 15" stock wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich
T/A radials.
