Vehicle Description
1970 Buick Gran Sport 455 Convertible
This car has an interesting history having been shipped to Hawaii
after being built at the GM plant in Fremont, California. Its most
interesting feature may well be the Hawaiian license plate
autographed by Tom Sellick.
As a 1970 version of Buick's answer to the Pontiac GTO this car has
the more powerful 455 cu. In. 340 h.p. V-8, a dramatic improvement
over previous years. The 3-speed automatic transmission is the
original GM Turbo-Hydramatic unit linked to a 10-bolt rear axle and
3.08 differential.
According to the owner this car has received a comprehensive frame
off restoration at a cost more than $100,000. Done over a 5-year
period and completed in 2014, the restoration is well documented.
It has been painted a sea mist green with a correct vinyl top. The
interior is the correct Ivory color. The front bench seat is power
adjusted, a rare feature. The owner is including additional records
for this well documented classic.
