Vehicle Description
1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible
The Jaguar car is world famous for its stylish designs, thrilling
performance, luxurious and comfortable interiors, outstanding
handling and ride, quality engineering, and state-of-the-art
technology. No other automobile manufacturer has been as remarkably
successful at creating both the world's finest luxury sedans, as
well as some of the world's most beloved sports cars.
The founder of Jaguar Cars Ltd. was Sir William Lyons. His goal was
to create world class sports sedans with "grace, space, and pace."
Lyons once said, "The car is the closest thing we will ever create
to something that is alive."
In September of 1989, after the Ford Motor Company purchase of
Jaguar, a change came to the XJS as it was powered by a special
5,993 cc (365.7 cu in) V12 engine with Zytek fuel injection and
engine management system. This enabled the car to have a top speed
of 158 mph. The consigner, who has owned the car since 1994, has
had the car professionally maintained. During this time a new top
and header was put on, new heads and a valve job, new front
catalytic converters, starter, brake pads and calipers, steering
rack rebuild, front wheel bearings, wiring, and on 5/18, fresh
Pennsylvania inspection.
Exterior
Steel Blue paint showing some blemishes, particularly on the
passenger's side door, presents fair. Chrome and badging are in
good condition. Top is new and boot cover has a few marks but in
good condition. Drivers side fog lamp appears water damaged, all
other exterior lighting is working and intact. Bumpers are clear
and shiny. Woven magnesium wheels are present all around, and tires
are showing little wear.
Interior
Leather seats show some wear on drivers' side, center console
armrest, as well as door arm rests. Carpeting is in good condition
mostly clear and free from staining. All of the dash panel and door
panel veneer is in good condition. Center console veneer is also in
good condition, as are all switches and buttons that control
various interior comforts. Just over 77,000 miles are shown,
however considering all the recent repairs and replacements, this
car is good to go.
Drivetrain
The 365ci V12 engine with fuel injection, delivers very smooth
power. Some slight corrosion on aluminum parts is seen, but
otherwise engine is clean. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission
drives wheels that are controlled by the rear IRS,and front a-arms.
Power disc brakes and dual exhaust round out the package, which
appears in very nice condition underneath, with no rust on floor
pan, or rockers.
The consigner reluctantly gave this car to Classic Auto Mall due to
physical limitations with driving it safely. Excellent
mechanically, and fair cosmetically, a daily driver that is
powerful and smooth running. Jaguar styling and V12 power, in a
1990's package.
