Vehicle Description
The Series 1 was the first and only car designed, engineered and
built from the ground up, as a Shelby, by Shelby American and
Carroll Shelby. Every component that went into building the Series
1 was designed specifically for it, including the modified
Oldsmobile Aurora V8 320hp engine and custom ZF 6-speed manual
transaxle. Its extruded aluminum frame featured aluminum honeycomb
reinforcement panels, and was covered in carbon fiber and
fiberglass laminate body panels - a first in an American car. This
car is #34 of just 249 produced, and was assembled at Shelby's Las
Vegas facility in 1999. It is one of the approximately 60 Series 1
roadsters equipped with the supercharger package offered by Shelby
as an optional extra, with the 4.0-liter V8 engine bumping its
power to 450hp. This example, which has less than 10,000 actual
miles, was also fitted with many Shelby-sourced and installed
extras, including a heavy-duty clutch, 4-wheel disc brakes and
painted LeMans stripes. Other features include a 6-speed manual
transmission, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, power
windows/locks/mirrors and Shelby 5-spoke aluminum wheels with
specially designed Z-rated tires. ** TITLE IN TRANSIT **
