American Motors had a history-making year of sales in 1959. In the Rambler Six line, AMC bequeathed a simple new egg crate grille with a gap between the grille and the hood where “RAMBLER” was spelled out in stand-up block letters. The Six line was further divided into Deluxe, Super and Custom levels in ascending order of trim.
Today you are viewing a very unique station wagon, this is a locally owned from new 1959 AMC Rambler Cross Country. This vehicle was purchased from the original owner in believed to be the late 70’s by his neighbor and restoration began at that time. After setting in his building ( completed ) under cover for 10 – 12 years, the original owners nephew got wind of the car possibly coming available for sale. Hearing this he sprang to the opportunity of possibly purchasing this family heirloom and made it happen. Now inquiring on further pieces for his collection this Rambler has came up for sale for the third time as you see it today.
This car is powered by the original rebuilt drive train, a 195ci OHV I-6 mated to a three speed manual trans with column shift. Very dependable classic as you can start and literally drive anywhere with confidence. Odometer is showing 64,521 miles and title states actual. Interior is in very good condition with only minor blemishes due to age of restoration. Body is in great shape with beautiful paint again only showing very minor chips as seen in pics.
