For Sale: 1959 Chevrolet Apache in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1959 Chevrolet Apache Pickup Truck

The 1959 Chevrolet Apache, a 1/2 ton Pickup or light duty as it was commonly known, came in one of two body styles: the Stepside, or the Fleetside. The latter of the two, was cleaner looking with a virtual straight line from hood to end of bed, and no indentations. This resulted in a cleaner looking truck that was more aerodynamic and lighter which resulted in fuel savings.

The consigners grandfather was the original owner of the truck which he purchased new in 1959 and kept it from new until his death in 1992. The consigner, his grandson, always wanted his chance to take the old truck and fix it up better than new. He got his chance, and as the story goes, after he had it for several months, his father stopped by to see how he was doing on grandpa's truck. Dad was taken into the barn where he was confronted with thousands of parts, none of them together! We now offer the fruits of the grandson's labors, which have won over 200 awards. Every part of it...

Exterior
You will read the words, immaculate, pristine, perfect, very good, and others in this description, and this truck deserves it. As you read on, assume everything is in the aforementioned conditions, unless described otherwise! Tartan Turquoise with Bombay Ivory bathes the exterior surfaces. Badging, chrome, and all aspects of this renovation have been done beautifully. Even the frame has been painted with gloss black and is as clean as the topside. A new Oak bed is seen and is devoid of any marks.

Interior
The photos speak for themselves, and this writer/photographer can attest, that this truck is perfect. New stylized matching turquoise and cream vinyl wraps the front bench seat, the door panels, as well as the headliner. The utilitarian dash gleams in cream with turquoise top and is peppered with original instrumentation and controls. Perfect hook and loop carpeting covers the floor, as well as provides background for the immaculate rubber covered pedals. A virtually showroom new steering column, holds a restored steering wheel that is original to the truck.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a highly chromed early 1970's 350ci engine. It is backed by a mirror chrome plate on the firewall which gives the illusion of another engine. A 4-barrel carburetor is atop, and a three on the tree is attached, in keeping with the original engineered truck. The beautiful engine bay just gleams when you open the hood.

A true family truck, the bond between a grandfather and his grandson, one lifetime of using for hard work, and another of hardworking for using, this truck has seen 2 different but interconnected lives and lifestyles. A true showpiece, the consigner has had his fun, won too many awards to count, and his wife wants to travel the country in a camper. One man's loss is another man's gain and this one is a true diamond.
