Vehicle Description
If you like rare, classic Pontiacs that can be driven anytime,
anywhere, this rare bird might be for you. This is the holy grail
of Pontiacs: the 400 4-Speed Trans Am. Garage Kept Motors is
pleased to offer this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 400 for consideration,
which also comes with two original build sheets. We acquired the
car from Montana, but the car was originally delivered through
Pontiac City Inc of Spokane, Washington. Its a western car and
remains extremely clean underneath. This TA is not perfect but
offers the perfect driving experience with 220hp that was a handful
for the time. 116,535 Pontiac Trans Ams were sold in 1979, but only
2,917 of them came with the 400 and T-Tops. And every 400 car came
with 4-speed gearbox. The "Z" in the VIN means it is a true 400,
plus we have the build sheets to clarify all the options.
The car came from the factory in Dark Brown (code 69) over a Camel
Cloth (code 62B) bucket seat interior. It is powered by the 400 V8
4bbl mated to the M21 4-Speed Manual transmission. It also came
with the WS4 Trans Am Package and coveted WS6 Special Performance
Package plus the W72 Performance Package. Other noteworthy options
included a Tilt Steering Wheel, Space Saver Spare Tire, Cast
Aluminum Gold Wheels, Dual Horn, Electric Clock, AM/FM Radio,
Bucket Seats, 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Hatch Roof, Gold Graphics and
Hood Decal. This is a phenomenal vehicle at a reasonable price
point as we hope the new owner can get behind the wheel and just
go. We just put on a new exhaust with brand new tires. It is ready
for a new home. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on
our main website: Garage Kept Motors. Call if interested or e-mail
with any questions. Thank you for looking.
