For Sale: 1956 Chevrolet 210 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

When the 1955 Chevrolets hit the streets, America's love affair with the automobile officially shifted into overdrive. With stunning style, generous amenities and storied performance, the 'tri-five' Chevys were the cars that would define a generation, and later, give new meaning to the word "classic". Carefully restored and tastefully modified, this terrific 210 pairs a hot 283 with a spry 4-speed and dapper trimmings. And if you're looking for a cool cruiser that's showable, drivable and just plain lust worthy, it's poised to be your new favorite pastime!

PRESENTATION

One quick look at our high definition photos reveals a straight and solid profile that features no aesthetic modification. In other words: you're looking at factory-correct sheetmetal that's unchopped, unshaved and, as far as we can tell, completely unaltered. Thanks to a quality restoration, every panel was straightened, aligned and hand-sanded prior to receiving a rich combination of Jade and Sandalwood 2-stage. And, thanks to recent detailing, the reflections created by that 2-stage are simply astounding! At the front of the car's stylish post body, a guarded bumper founds a polished grille between stainless-trimmed headlights and amber parking lamps. Above that grille, a familiar Jetbird shades a colorful header crest opposite smoked glass that's wrapped in polished stainless and mirrored wipers. Speaking of mirrors, the car's short speculums reflect polished speed spears and factory door handles. And at the back of those spears, a second guarded bumper frames a second colorful crest and trick Blue Dot Taillights.

POWER

Pop the hood and you'll find a reliable, 283 cubic inch Chevrolet small block that's been fully rebuilt and bathed in vivid Chevy Orange paint. Revs are created when a body-matched Batwing Air Cleaner floats wind in to an iron GM intake, by way of a spry Quadrajet carburetor. At the perimeter of that intake, resurfaced heads hang hardened valve seats between restored exhaust manifolds and stylish Chevrolet valve covers. Behind those tins, a proven points distributor shoots spark through loomed plug wires. At the front of those cables, billet pulleys spin a Powermaster alternator above modern power steering and a coated fuel pump. In front of those ancillaries, a factory radiator plays well with a big flex fan and a polished thermostat housing. And overall, the bright mill looks right at home in the car's Satin Black engine compartment.

DRIVABILITY

As expected, the bottom of this 210 is just as well-done as the car's body and engine bay. Solid floors wear fresh Satin Black paint, which looks great framing a fully rebuilt suspension that provides a slightly lowered ride height. At the center of that chassis, a familiar Muncie 4-speed funnels torque through a tough 12-bolt axle that's finished with 3.31 gears and a posi-traction differential. Fluid power steering makes quick work of turns. Power-assisted discs and drums bring everything to a quick halt. The aforementioned manifolds dump spent gases in to aluminized pipes, which hang deep turbo mufflers in front of polished stainless tips. And everything rolls on polished American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, which spin 215/60R15 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As in front of 245/50ZR16 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As.

COMFORT

Between the doors, this Chevy's attractive interior has been seamlessly customized to blend modern and original equipment. Reclining bucket seats are sumptuous and comfortable, separated by a removable Buddy Seat. Bowtie-stamped stainless trims a Jade dash, which plants traditional telemetry next to modern audio and an analog clock. Fresh carpet, protected by piped and color-keyed floor mats, flows from a familiar Hurst shifter to crisp kick speakers. Rich door panels and a tight headliner are well-crafted pieces that will leave onlookers scratching their heads about what's original and what isn't. And in front of the driver, a leather-wrapped Budnik steering wheel laps a retro Auto Meter tach and a tilting Ididit column.
