Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the
XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the
split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the
doors. The alloy bonnet was widened and opened down to the wings.
In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by an
elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave the interior
needed space as well. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared
for the first time.
Chassis T831663DN was built November 3, 1958 and dispatched on the
26 of that month, as a U.S. specification "3.4 Litre S" through
Jaguar Cars, New York - finished in Pearl Grey paint over Black
leather upholstery and top. The Jaguar was acquired through
long-term ownership from a noteworthy collection in Ponte Vedra
Beach, Florida before receiving a thorough mechanical and cosmetic
freshening in July of 2018. Work was entrusted to marque expert and
multiple JCNA and Pebble Beach winning restorer, Jeff's
Resurrection's of Taylor, Texas. This included: replacing ALL
fluids and filters, new spark plugs and wire assembly, thermostat,
rebuild carbs, inspect/clean/polish/paint and coat engine head and
auxiliary components, new exhaust manifolds, new brake booster,
master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch and steering joint. Test
electrical system, tune vehicle, install polished bumpers and
wheels - mounted to correct 6.00R16 tires. A $10,500 invoice is
kept on file.
Overall, the Roadster presents well and is highly capable as a
strong tourer or local display. As a testament to its purity and
originality the body number "6680" if found stamped on the front
hood and factory chalk markings are also present. Visually
striking, this XK150 excels the most with its exceptional
drivability and mechanical prowess, in addition to an unusually
solid body and undercarriage. Spot welds can be seen throughout the
vehicle, including the luggage compartment, which displays original
paint and factory crayon markings on the rear deck and trunk mat.
Emergency equipment also contained within, includes a Thor hammer,
spanner, t-key, jack, wrench, grease gun and matching spare
assembly. The nicely mellowed cabin is comfortable and spacious
enough for distance rallies, with the benefit of overdrive. Top-up,
open-air, or protected by a zippered full-cab tonneau cover, all
weather equipment is included. With a wrap-around windscreen and
roll up windows, the 150s offer a much more pleasant top-down
experience than its older siblings.
The polished lacquer paint was applied many years ago and is
complimented by chrome wire wheels, tall period tires, single Lucas
driving lamp and what appears to be original trim. The correctly
dressed engine bay is orderly and authentic in presentation with
proper finishes, hoses, Cheney clamps and auxiliary equipment.
Early sporting Jaguars command attention with their strikingly
elegant lines and fierce performance. This XK150 is no exception
and great opportunity to acquire the most refined variant of the
XK100 class. Now available from our Houston, Texas showroom for
worldwide purchase and delivery.
