Santa Barbara, Ca the car has been in Laguna Beach for the last 25
years where it has seen careful use in parades, rally's, and car
shows. The car has recently benefited from an engine overhaul by a
marque specialist in 2015, new English wool carpeting has been
installed as have new front leather hydes. The serial number of the
car reveals that it was the 12 Silver Dawn produced by Rolls Royce
out of a total production of 760 cars between 1949 and 1955. These
hand built cars from the Crewe plant were the first Rolls Royce
models that were built completely in-house. Some interesting
features of the car include a sun roof, directional radio mast,
original (non-operational) radio, adjustable suspension settings
via the steering wheel, original RR tool drawer under the glove
box, shoulder and lap seat belts, and engine hand crank (in
addition to the electric starter). Power is supplied by a silky
smooth inline 6 cylinder engine, with a 4 speed manual column
shift, and power assisted brakes. The headlights, turn signals,
windshield wipers, heat, windows lifts, sun roof, door locks,
latches, etc all work properly and without issue. The Silver Dawn
is easy to operate and drive. It starts easily and runs strong, the
clutch is smooth and does not slip, the transmission shifts
easily,road handling is stately, braking is straight and
predictable. In summation, this car has been carefully cared for
its whole life by a series of owners who demanded the very best.
