Vehicle Description
This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is no aftermarket rebadging of a
lesser version of the model - it's the real thing and it is
awesome. This special edition Chevy wears its original shade on its
exterior, harbors period-correct, big block power under its hood
and has only logged about a thousand miles since its very extensive
rebuild - just enough to get in some thorough road testing and tie
up any loose ends.
All the hallmarks of a skillful and thorough restoration are on
display here. The mountain green paint this classic muscle car
wears provides a great look and it's in very nice shape, with an
even shade sitting under a strong clearcoat to produce a very
impressive shine. This Chevelle left the shop only a few years
back, where it benefitted from a frame off restoration. When it
came time to put the pieces back together, it was done with a lot
of precision and you'll find nice even gaps surrounding the body
panels, with doors, hood and deck lid that open and close just as
smoothly as when this car was new. There's clear glass on all sides
of the cabin, surrounded by fresh-looking rubber seals to keep the
elements out. All the exterior chrome fittings are looking sharp,
from the broad front grille Chevy added just the year before this
'67 came out, and the windshield and rocker panel trim, on back to
the Super Sport badging that provided fair warning to its muscle
car competition.
What appears to be a nearly new interior is just inside the doors
in factory configuration. There hasn't been much traffic venturing
inside the doors, so the black vinyl surfaces of the front buckets
and rear bench seat are still looking their best, showing no
creasing or wear marks. The seating is bracketed by door panels in
the very same condition. A trio of aftermarket gauges sits just
above a great looking center console, joined by a generously
proportioned tach just to the left of the speedometer, as the only
add-ons inside. The dash area looks very sharp, with its assortment
of factory gauges all functional and easily readable, chrome
accents that are in top shape, and a straight and supple dash pad
sitting on top. Factory in-dash vents are at both sides to bring
air-conditioned comfort into the cabin. The trunk area is nice and
clean, with a plaid liner on its floor that matches the covering
over the spare tire.
There's plenty of power under the hood, with a period correct 396
cubic inch V8 sitting at the center of a show-stopper of an engine
bay, surrounded by braided hoses in place of their more common
rubber counterparts and several other eye-catching chrome
components. It's armed with an aluminum intake manifold and a
Holley 4-barrel that sits underneath a properly badged chrome air
cleaner, as well as a pair of chrome valve covers on its sides. A
performance cam has been added to up the big block's output and it
also provides a nice, appealing lope - nothing drastic, but just
enough to let you know there's a serious engine on board. The
4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission just behind it offers an
overdrive gear for engine sparing low RPMs at highway speeds. Power
steering makes this upper echelon Chevelle easy to navigate while
power front disc brakes offer fade resistant stopping ability as
this outstanding Chevy takes to the streets on its 16" chrome Rally
wheels wrapped in redline radials.
With a meticulous restoration leaving it in outstanding condition
both inside and out, this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 will
impress even the most experienced of car enthusiasts. Call
