Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1968 Shelby GT500KR. This
Shelby is finished in attractive Highland Green Metallic over Black
Knitted Decor bucket seats and shows 86,000 miles. It is a largely
original and very correct car that has been with a respected
Georgia-based Ford collector for over a decade. The Marti report is
included - on top of the standard Shelby features it was optioned
with power disk brakes, power steering, shoulder harnesses,
fold-down rear seat, AM radio and tilt column (this may have been
an error - or it was changed - as it now has a standard
column).
Although it's been in a collection and is in excellent condition,
this Shelby has not been relegated to "trailer queen" status. Its
owner has driven it and serviced it regularly over the last decade,
and thanks to regular exercise it runs and drives great. At the
time of purchase in 2006 it was advertised as having a recently
rebuilt drivetrain and suspension - that was approximately 2,000
miles ago. Paint and body are nice with good panel gaps. The
interior remains mostly as it left the factory as we believe the
upholstery, dash pad, woodgrain, gauges, headliner, sun visors and
possibly the carpet to be original. Door cards and some trim bits
have been replaced over the years.
The engine compartment is nicely detailed and the date-correct (and
believed to be original) 428 Cobra Jet engine retains its smog pump
and emissions equipment. All accessories under the hood are
period-correct with appropriate FoMoCo part numbers, right down to
the Autolite battery. Recent clutch replacement with an upgraded
Centerforce kit. This is an excellent example for touring, rallies
or regional shows.
