Vehicle Description
1962 THUNDERBIRD
At the start of the 1960's Ford decided to cut back on excess of
chrome and size that defined cars of the '50's. With a clean slate,
the designs became almost austere. The third generation Thunderbird
is an excellent example of this clean slate thinking
. This is the kind of car a person of some importance who'd like
something with a little more flash might buy. This is the story of
this T-Bird's first owner - Dr. Walter P Blount who was famous
enough to have an article written about him in the February 7, 1949
issue of "Time" magazine.
While today only a few remember Dr. Blount, he helped the lives of
thousands through his development of "Milwaukee Brace". With this
device children, misshapen by scoliosis or kyphosis, could be made
straight
.
This very original T-bird has power steering and power brakes. It
has seats that should be powered but will need work. The paint and
bright work could use some cleaning up as well as the original 390
cu in 300 hp V-8 with a Cruise-O-Matic MX transmission. The car is
black and the interior is gray/black Bedford Cloth. It has 73,700
original miles.
Estimate: $7,000-$13,000
