Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1979 International Scout
II. Finished in gunmetal grey metallic, it's recently undergone a
frame-off restoration and is easily among the nicest Scouts we have
ever sold. Show-quality paint over a very straight body with
excellent panel gaps and door fitment. As you would expect with any
high-quality paint job, all of the glass was pulled and all
rubbers, seals and felts are new. All-new glass has a light tint
that's integral to the glass itself, not an applied film, so it
will never scratch or peel or turn purple with age. New General
Grabber 33x10.50 tires on Ultra "Rogue" 15-inch wheels. Custom,
powder-coated GRC bumpers with LED light bar affixed to the front
and swing-out tire carrier in the rear with full-size matching
spare. Attractive matte-black stripe with red accents plus a black
SSII grille. It's a great-looking Scout that never fails to turn
heads from casual passers-by, yet on closer inspection the quality
and attention to detail will impress even the most seasoned
observers.
Interior has been fully restored and is mostly new, with Corbeau
bucket seats up front and a stock rear bench reupholstered in
matching Corbeau material. New door panels, carpet, headliner and
custom door sill plates. Powder-coated GRC roll bar with
three-point belts for the front seat occupants. Restored gauges
have been re-faced in red to coordinate with the subtle red accents
elsewhere on the truck. Modern AM/FM/CD stereo with bluetooth, USB,
aux input and pre-wired XM antenna plus four speakers mounted in
the front seat bases and kick panels to either side of the rear
seat. Very nice leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Under the hood is an IHC 345ci V8 mated to a TorqueFlite 727
automatic with 3.07 gears in Dana 44 axles. Engine was fully
rebuilt about 20k miles ago. Brand new aluminum radiator, master
cylinder, starter, coil, front brake pads, driveshaft u-joints and
Magnaflow exhaust. Axles, transmission and transfer case all
recently serviced with fresh fluids. Four-inch suspension lift with
new bushings, u-bolts, shocks, shackles and hardware. Very nicely
detailed under the hood and underneath with no known rust.
This Scout runs and drives great, and feels considerably smoother
and more "put together" than most lifted trucks we drive.
Remarkably rattle-free due to fresh suspension and attention to
detail throughout - one of the most common (and annoying) sources
of rattles in a Scout II are the folding metal rear tailgate and
hatch supports. On this truck, the upper hatch is supported by a
telescoping hydraulic strut and the lower tailgate by rubber-coated
wire ropes on either side (see photos).
A excellent example of a frame-off-restored Scout that will make
its next owner very happy. For more information about this 1979
