Vehicle Description
1966 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
Advertisements became popular reminders of the Mustang's youthful
spirit, such as one featuring two mature adults sitting in a new
Mustang with the words, "Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime
to waste it on children." It was the car to have if you were
seeking the fountain of youth. The 1966 Ford Mustang was the car to
have if you were looking to win over your neighbor or hit the road
for fun and adventure. It was also a must-have for enthusiastic
drivers and car enthusiasts who simply liked to drive.
Engine Code A: 289 cubic inch V-8 engine 225hp w/10.0:1 compression
and a four-barrel carburetor, sums it up, although to top it off,
or should I say top it down with a convertible! This pony optioned,
and beautiful example of a 1966 Mustang saw the model hit 1 million
units since inception in 1965. This particular car was one of
12,000 produced, and even less with the options it contains.
Exterior
Sauterne Gold Poly with white convertible top, all in very good
restored condition adorn the exterior of this vehicle. GT, 289 and
a prancing horse on the grill badging are in good condition. The
fog light option has been installed, GT emblazoned gas cap, as well
as megaphone chrome tips on the exhaust pipes have been installed.
Very little fault can be found with the exterior condition overall
except for the paint which has some dull spots.
Interior
Sauterne Gold and Ivory inserts make up the bevel stamped "pony
option" on the 2 front bucket seats, as well as the bench seat in
the rear. No cracks or rips, and seating presents beautifully. Rich
unstained, unfaded gold carpeting floods the floor. Side door
panels mimic the seating in color and pattern, and all cranks and
door actuating handles are working and clean. Instrument cluster is
embedded in a cream dashboard topped with green slightly padded
vinyl. A 3-spoke wood steering wheel with rally-pac gauges is seen
on the steering column. The original floor shifter sits between the
driver and passenger. A matching gold boot with all the snaps
intact covers the convertible top when passengers are enjoying the
wind in their hair.
Drivetrain
A GT 289ci V8, topped by a 4-barrel carburetor is attached to a
3-speed manual transmission. Engine compartment is very clean and
noted is the Mustang badged chromed air cleaner cover, denoting the
engine size and recommended octane of gas. Front suspension is an A
arm setup, and semi elliptic springs smooth the ride on the rear.
Disc brakes in the front, drum brakes in the rear, dual exhaust,
and 14x6 Magnum tires with stock Mustang hubcaps and dish rims all
around complete this 1966 GT package.
This true Mustang GT Convertible is a beauty. All working
condition, ready to drive off and enjoy the "youth is a wonderful
thing" mantra. Obviously, this car had a great life, and has plenty
of it left. Oh, and leave the kids behind!
