Vehicle Description
1966 Dodge Charger is a factory 426 HEMI, 4 speed car. The '66
Charger sports one of the best interiors, featuring
electro-luminescent gauges, flow through console, fold down back
seats, and rear cargo passthrough. This example is finished in AA1
Buffed Silver Metallic with Blue Vinyl interior, a tasteful and
stunning color combo, emblematic of the era. This car has been in
the same family since new.
This car has been professionally inspected by an independent third
party. The detail below is based on this inspection. As the buyer,
you can have the opportunity to inspect the vehicle and confirm
condition for yourself. Here is the rundown.
EXTERIOR
All of the sheet metal on the vehicle is original to the car. There
is no evidence of rust repair, collision damage, or panel
replacement. The car was refinished in factory AA1 Buffed Silver
Metallic. The factory pinstripe has been left off the roof. The
paint work is in very good condition, showing only light sanding
marks under the clear in the rear quarters upon close inspection.
The trim is in likewise very good condition. Body panels align
well, with tight, regular gaps on the hood, trunk, and doors. The
only significant signs of aging are hairline cracks in the rear
taillights, very common on the 1st generation Charger.
The cars open and close normally and are aligned well. Windows roll
up and down, operating normally, and seal properly. All the
exterior lights, including high beams, low beams, brakes lights,
markers, and signals operate as intended.
INTERIOR
The interior is in very good condition. The only significant wear
evident is a hairline crack on the dash, common on these cars.
Everything operates as factory intended with the exception the
driver's side seat slider, which the right-side rail doesn't always
catch. All lights, gauges, radio, windshield wipers and climate
controls are in working order. The rest of interior is clean,
including seats, carpet, center console, rear folding seats. No
significant wear or cracks were observed. The interior is an
outstanding example of factory ingenuity, in near showroom
quality.
ENGINE BAY
The 1966 date code 426 HEMI was professionally rebuilt in April
2017. All the fluids are clean. There are no signs of leaks, seeps,
or weeps. The engine starts promptly, remarkable because HEMI's
have a reputation for being cold blooded. It holds excellent oil
pressure, with no evidence of exhaust leaks. The car runs out runs
smooth and straight, shifting smoothly with a firm clutch feel. The
brakes operate well, with good grip and no bind or pulling side to
side. Steering smooth and responsive, tracking straight.
CHASSIS
Chassis is finished in flat black "underbody black", not concours
detailed, but clean and tidy. The car sits level, the undercarriage
is dry and rot free. It is doubtful that this car has ever seen
salt. The shocks are likewise dry and in very good condition, as
are the brakes, suspension components, and exhaust. The tires are
good condition, no signs of dry rot or cracking. The tire wear is
uniform, showing plenty of meat on the tread.
