STK 2431 1955 Willys Jeep M-38 A-1
The Willys M38A1 series of military Jeeps is thought by most to the
strongest of the breed. They had heavier frames than the previous
M38 'flat fender' versions, were narrow enough to work in tight
quarters and had more power than the M38s. This partially restored
1955 MB38A1 is said to have seen service in Korea and Vietnam.
There are distinctive differences in this MB series when compared
to the civilian CJ5 including a 24-volt electrical system with
output terminals on the right front fender and the left rear
quarter. The fuel filler spout is much larger and feeds a 17-gallon
tank. Our Olive Drab paint and interior components were refreshed
2015 and are in fair/good condition. The original top is included,
but needs some attention. Power is furnished by a 134ci OHV
4-cylinder engine that appears to be in original condition and
running fine. The factory drivetrain consisted of a Dana90 3-speed
transmission, Dana18 H/L-2wd/4wd transfer case, Dana25 front
differential and Dana44 rear differential. We are not absolutely
sure that all current components are as delivered from the factory,
but there is no reason to think that they have been compromised.
Cooper 7.00x16 military-style tires are mounted on standard steel
rims. Convenience features include a shovel, siren, tactical
military mobile radio, Jerrycan, gauges (mostly original) and
passenger grab bar. This is a solid MB38A1 that is going to provide
the new owner with lots of fun. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
