Vehicle Description
1967 Buick Skylark Convertible
Known for its prolonged singing while soaring, the European Skylark
is oft seen hovering over large farmland expanses and open country.
The Skylark line of automobile produced by Buick, from 1953 through
1998, has seen many variations and iterations of design and
performance. Soaring over roads, this Skylark has sung its tune for
a few generations, some of the "hippest" during the 1960's
This 1967 convertible example of the Buick Skylark provides the
viewer of it with a combination of 1960's cool, and early muscle
cars disguised as family sedans. This year Skylark, sported fender
skirts, bucket seats with shoulder restraints, recessed controls on
the instrument panel, a softer dash, and a collapsible steering
wheel and column. A pointed nose raked forward and overall, it was
a thinner and wider car which gave the impression of speed and
style.
Exterior
A white repaint, matching the original color, covers the exterior
surfaces. Virtually dent and ding free, the exterior presents
beautifully. The iconic Buick front fender venting are present on
the car and are covered in chrome. Grille, dual headlights and
surrounds are in good condition with slight pitting, as is rear
brake lighting surrounds. A white canvas top is clean with no tears
or rips, and the rear window is scratch and sun fog free. The top
can be electrically raised and lowered. 5-spoke steel wheels
chromed, with Buick faux knockoff center logo hubs, are framed by a
skirting chrome trim, that runs the length of the body on both
sides. This trim shows in good condition and the front and rear
bumpers are mostly blemish free.
Interior
Original interior vinyl is in excellent condition. Beautiful blue
horizontal ribbing is in the front of the 2 bucket seats and bench
seating is in back. Door panels show blue vinyl trimming as well
and have plenty of chrome accenting attached. This is the same for
the seats, as the back of the buckets are framed in chrome trim,
have chrome locking mechanism buttons, as well as lower back trim.
A chromed center console houses a flip glove compartment, the
automatic transmission floor shifter, and aftermarket gauge is
between the bucket seats. The shifter shaft and knob are chromed as
well and is reminiscent in design of the Seattle Space Needle. Dash
chrome and blue trim is in fair condition with come pitting and
scratching, however all gauges and knobs are clear and working. The
upper dash shows cracking on the passenger side, and is typical for
this year, as it was the first for the padded dash.
Drivetrain
A 2-barrel carburetor sits atop a 300ci V8, which produces 210hp.
This is attached to a 2-speed automatic transmission and is
exhausted by a dual system. 4-wheel disc brakes with double A arm
front suspension, and coil spring rear suspension, which appears
newly rebuilt show on the underside. Also some passenger floor pan
rust, which has undergone repair, is seen.
I imagine dad behind the wheel, flat top cut, Wayfarers. white
shirt and thin necktie, with mom next to him with her Oliver
Goldsmith Manhattans, silk bandanna covering her low beehive, and
matching paisley dress, rolling down the highway with top down
smiling and just enjoying life. This convertible, in drive away
condition, can be you, 50 years later with that same smile, and
sense of satisfaction in your 1967 Buick Skylark
Convertible...goose it!
