The Ford Ranchero or UTE, although in Australia for some time, was first introduced into the North American market in 1957, a good two years prior to its counterpart from Chevrolet.
I’ve always been reluctant to badge many vehicles as “rare” or even “getting rare”, but, unless there’s a major fleet of these units stored in quonsets, somewhere across the nation, this vehicle in my opinion can honestly be designated as such!
This car/truck, ute or whatever, is so unique that it seems unless your hair is grey, you’re not really sure what it is. It’s been called everything from a “whatisit” to the batmobile, and yes, even an El Camino.
It has been fun, just to drive it down the street, as, not only is it a real head turner, but has enjoyed its fair share of awards at the local car shows and major events!

Replaced Heater Core, Belts, Hoses And Clamps, Drive Shaft -Shortened and Balanced Complete With New U-joints, All Brakes Relined With New Front Brake Drums. Some Paint Work Done. Both Bumpers Were Re-chromed. The Side Pipes are non-functional however can be easily re-activated if desired.
I have owned this vehicle for 22 years (5350 miles) and most work was performed during that time period! Always stored in a heated garage!
