Vehicle Description
Pontiac, bless its beak-nosed heart, turned out some truly unusual
cars in 1969, an unforeseen consequence of General Motors'
crushingly expensive, inefficient car-for-everyone optioning
strategy. Not all of them were GTOs, either. Some of the
strangeness extended to Pontiac's still-novel personal-luxury
coupe, the Grand Prix. For the 1969 model year, the famous John Z.
DeLorean, Pontiac's general manager at the time, ordered the
development of an all-new Grand Prix based on a slightly stretched
version of the intermediate GM A platform, which was dubbed the
G-body. The new 1969 Grand Prix was big no matter how you measured.
With a new 118-inch wheelbase, the Grand Prix was large and in
charge.
The 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix offered here was acquired from Georgia
18 years ago and since resided in Belmont MI used only as a Summer
car. The car is finished in white over classic green interior.
Options include: 400 V8 engine, Automatic transmission, rear wheel
drive, power steering, power brakes, A/C, bucket seats, soft ray
tinted glass, console with console shifter, clock, am radio etc.
Other highlights included: Upgraded Aluminum Radiator, JVC sound
system, Edelbrock air cleaner, Cragar SS wheels and rear spoiler.
The car remains in overall great shape. The interior appears to be
original and very nice, the exterior has received a repaint and the
underside is dry and clean.
These big cars are gaining big popularity in all 4 corners of the
globe. Their soft, cushy ride and affordability have big appeal to
people around the world. The price offered here is an investment
that will pay dividends.
