1956 FORD SUNLINER CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is
pleased to present this 1956 Ford Sunliner convertible featured in
the striking two-tone combination of Diamond Blue over Peacock Blue
with a two-tone blue vinyl interior and dark blue convertible top.
At first glance this looks like a beautiful, factory stock
restoration, but look closer and notice the 4.6 High Performance
badges on the front fenders and check out what you see under the
hood. This superb Sunliner is actually a meticulously engineered
and executed resto-mod featuring a modern high performance
powertrain and all the comfort and convenience features you want in
a reliable and user-friendly 50s convertible.The powertrain in this
Ford is from a 1997 Mark 8 Lincoln. It features the 4.6L double
overhead cam fuel-injected V8 with the computer-controlled
automatic overdrive transmission. The intake manifold was upgraded
to a 1997 Mustang Cobra unit, and the 5 qt oil pan was replaced
with a 6 qt pan. The original Mark 8 radiator, condenser, and AC
compressor were used, and the complete wiring harness for the
engine, transmission, dash cluster and ECU were installed so that
everything is compatible and OBD diagnostics can be done using the
VIN from the powertrain donor car. The front sub-frame is from
Fatman Fabrications and includes an upgrade to disc brakes. There
are new front coil springs with TRW Moog 8556 rebuilt rear leaf
springs and bushings. The original rear end retains 3.10 gears with
new rear shocks and drum brakes. A new driveshaft mates the
upgrades powertrain to the rear end and there is a new brake
booster and master cylinder with a combination valve. A new 56 ford
fuel tank was modified to fit an electric fuel pump and the trunk
floor modified for easy access to the pump.Notice the beautifully
integrated Mark 8 instrument cluster. The interior also features
power seats, Nu-Relics power windows all around, Classic Air AC and
AM/FM stereo sound system. The workmanship is all first-class and
this car drives like no other 1956 Ford! This Sunliner is fully
sorted and is ready to cruise.
