Vehicle Description
A budget-priced droptop with some of the most iconic names in
British racing involved - that's what you get with this 1974 Jensen
Healey.
Both Jensen Motors and Donald Healey are legends for providing some
very sporty machines. So a combined effort is already attractive.
The styling on this roadster really captures the whole era
perfectly. The sloping front end and tall headlights to show the
driver the car's corners are reminiscent of TVR and MG. The bulge
in the middle of the hood feels like a nod to the Jaguar E-Type.
The short rear deck with crisp back panel looks like it could have
come from Triumph. And the full-length body crease and
trunk-mounted luggage rack seem evolved from Healey's earlier
collaboration with Austin. So it's a distinct car that's also
unmistakably 1970s Britain. Because this one is so original - right
down to the badging and wheels - you really get a to correctly
experience classic British motoring.
Inside is exactly what you want on a true English drop top. Bucket
seats, a grippy steering wheel, and a gear stick in that perfect
position - it makes this a true driver's machine. This has great
original-style feeling from the wood-like trim to the AM/FM 8-track
stereo. Of course, no British machine is complete without a full
set of Smiths gauges, including the large speedo and tach. Plus,
with a well-fitting convertible top and roll-up windows, this is
quite forgiving if you happen to get caught out on a rainy day.
Under the hood is yet another British racing legend. These Jensen
Healey's were fitted with the light weight but powerful Lotus 907
motor. The 2.0-liter twin-cam is well presented, and it has a
factory-style presentation, right down to the decals. But there are
also some nice upgrades like the MSD ignition, and this one is even
brought back to Euro-spec with dual Dell'Orto carbs. With the
competition-inspired Lotus motor, good weight distribution, and
sharp handling, the Jensen Healey lives up to its namesakes and
really is a great one to enjoy the road. Plus, with front-disc
brakes, modern Michelin tires, and the control of a four-speed
manual transmission, this convertible is just begging for the back
roads.
Rarely is this much distinction and driving fun this affordable.
