Oldsmobile's bestselling model underwent a facelift in 1978 due to
increasing pressure for safer and more fuel-efficient vehicles.
Enter the A-body platform, the means by which GM would downsize the
Cutlass. Both the Grand Prix and Malibu shared this platform and it
proved to aid in GM's strive for energy efficient compact vehicles.
The radical restyling was met with mixed reactions, but
nevertheless the Cutlass remained a cornerstone offering for GM and
served the brand well until another redesign in 1979. This 1978
Olds Salon fastback coupe is a true survivor that retains the pure
essence of the late 1970s. Owned by the same family since new, this
