this beautiful 1957 Ford Thunderbird. This is one of the most
desirable years for the Thunderbird and what a fantastic example
this is. The current owner of this first-generation car bought it
from the original owner in Houston all the way back in 1967 and has
kept it ever since. This one has been excellently maintained over
the years and still drives very well. Under the hood you will find
a 312 CID V8 engine which was now standard in 1957 over the 292 CID
V8 engine seen on the previous 1st generation Thunderbirds. The
Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper, a
larger grille and tailfins, and larger tail lamps. The instrument
panel was heavily re-styled with round gauges in a single pod, and
the rear of the car was lengthened, allowing the spare tire to be
positioned back in the trunk. The 312 cu in V8 became the
Thunderbird's standard engine, and now produced 245 horsepower.
Other, even more powerful versions of the 312 cu in V8 were
available including one with two four-barrel Holley carburetors and
another with a Paxton supercharger delivering 300 horsepower.
Though Ford was pleased to see sales of the Thunderbird rise to a
record-breaking 21,380 units for 1957, company executives felt the
car could do even better, leading to a substantial redesign of the
car for 1958. The exterior is finished in a gorgeous white/blue
two-tone paint scheme with a matching blue two-tone interior. The
cabin is kept cool with functioning air conditioning and features a
manual convertible top for those summer days. Power steering and
power brakes make steering and stopping this classic a breeze, even
in tight parking spots. Seat belts are fitted for extra safety and
