Vehicle Description
The thing that I love most about this wonderful business of classic
cars, is that I learn something new every day. I also find out that
there are so many very rare special edition cars; out there that I
never knew existed. This is definitely one of those cars. Back in
the day, Ford would release their next year models in September, so
as it would be, by mid spring they were running into sales slumps.
One way that Ford would battle that was to come up with Midyear
specialty lines. In 1963, times were good, people were happy,
suburbia was on a roll, and people felt like kings.... or at least
royalty. So fords midyear special offering, was the only and
only.......... 1963 Ford Thunderbird Landau, Principality of
Monaco. This is one of those extremely rare cars, which only a very
hard core collector of Fords would ever know existed. Having made
only 2000 total of these very beautiful and very expensive cars,
they sold fast, and were never heard from again. This absolutely
beautiful Iconic Ford is as elegant as any automobile ever built.
It was soon dubbed the "Princess Grace Thunderbird" because of its
extreme style, graceful lines, and serene Beauty. Very much like
the beautiful Actress, turned Princess, Grace Kelly. Who had lit up
our silver screens all thru the mid-50s, with great movies like
Rear Window, and High Noon. In 1956 she left Hollywood and married
Prince Rainer of Monaco, where she became a princess. The ford
motor company, played very well off of her regal beauty and style,
with this amazing automobile. The first 2 1963 Principality of
Monaco Thunderbirds produced was told to have been given as gifts
to Prince Rainer and Princess Grace. I have been told that one of
them is on display in the royal museum of Monaco, to this day. Each
one of the 2000 cars built, were absolutely identical. With every
option you could ad. It is said that Grace Kelly actually was a
part of the design team that came up with the colors on this
beautiful car. They came only in Corinthian White Paint, with a
Dark Rose vinyl top, White leather Bucket seats, Dark rosewood
grain, on the console, dash, and door panels. Every one of the 2000
cars were fitted with a silver badge on the dash, that stated which
production number it was, and that it was a "principality of
Monaco. They were advertised as" feeling like a princess, if you
pony up the price". These cars are considered to be some of the
very rarest midyear Fords ever built. These are almost impossible
cars to find, anywhere, in any condition, at any price. We are very
proud to have available for sale in our Redmond Showroom, one of
these amazing, and rare cars. Our car was purchased in almost
exactly the condition it is being offered up for sale. This
beautiful car has had an extensive restoration done, at some point.
With beautiful correct paint, correct interior, and even the
original Kelsey Hayes wheels. This car is ready for any ford
collection. This beautiful Princess Grace car runs and drives as
well, as she looks. There is really not much more I can say about
this beautiful automobile. If you are looking for a very rare car,
to add to your collection, or to start your collection, or to drive
to any show and proudly have all the bragging rights. This is just
the car. These cars very rarely come up for sale, and when they do,
they sell very fast. So don't wait. These opportunities do not come
around very often, and like all of our cars, we have priced this
beauty to sell fast at $18,500. Feel free to give us a call, to set
