Vehicle Description
1970 Plymouth Superbird HEMI For Sale - Numbers Matching R Code
426/425hp HEMI LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1970
Plymouth Superbird HEMI In the 1970's NASCAR was king in America,
and as such the big three manufactures were in a constant battle
both on the track and the street. With all them setting their
sights on the prize it brought us vehicles and designs the public
would never expect. Perfect case in point is the 1970 Plymouth
Roadrunner Superbird, derived from the 1969 Daytona Charger the
Superbird shared the same large rear spoiler and pronounced nose
cone. No car demonstrates a company's "at all costs" desire to win
races than the over the top "Winged Warriors" from the MOPAR camp.
The Plymouth Superbird and close cousin Dodge Daytona. For 1970,
Plymouth produced fewer than 2,000 examples of the Superbird with a
meager 135 delivered with a factory 426 HEMI engine. This
particular Superbird was built on November 30th,1969 at the Lynch
Road Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan. The HEMI Superbird was
factory ordered Tor-Red or HEMI Orange as it's known to the Dodge
folks, complemented by a black vinyl interior and the mandatory
black vinyl top. If there were such a thing as a sleeper Superbird,
this car with its transverse stripe delete option would have to be
it! What truly makes this Superbird so special is the factory
equipped, numbers matching 426 HEMI engine which is only 1 of the
only 135 ever produced with this power plant. This car also came
factory equipped with power steering, power disc brakes and a
automatic transmission. It has been subject to a true no expense
spared nut and bolt rotisserie restoration to the highest level.
Every nut and bolt was painstakingly removed, restored and
refinished. The underside is just as good as the topside with great
attention to the details everywhere. The paint has been wet sanded
and polished from the rockers up to an absolute show finish. We
have had the pleasure of seeing many cars in our travels; but
rarely do we ever see any car done to this level of quality.
Included with this beautiful Superbird is a complete Galen Govier
Visual Inspection, Fender Tag Decode, Broadcast Sheet, Owner's
Manual and more. Over time their low production numbers and limited
availability make them extremely sought after and highly desirable
by collectors around the globe. This fully documented, factory "R"
code, numbers matching 426 HEMI Superbird with a cost is no object
restoration; is one of those true collectors' items. Additional
