For Sale: 1947 Ford F1 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1947 Ford Pickup Truck

Early on in the history of Ford Motor Company a noticeable lowercase "e" completed the curl at the back of the cursive F on the Ford name. Henry Ford and Thomas Edison both had winter estates in Ft. Meyers, Florida and shared ideas and cigars. One Idea that would make Ford a real innovator was the concept of the assembly line. This original idea came from Edison and in deference to him and his idea, Henry Ford honored him in his early logo with that "e" on the curl, and as they say the rest is history!

On a summer trip to Maine, the owner of this truck happened upon a fabrication shop owned by one of the best dirt track drivers in Maine. The driver, now fabricator, painstakingly pieced together various parts and yielded the final creation, that can best be described as an amalgamation turned art rod. Beautiful lines, excellent fit and finish and power to spare, make this "Ford" pickup truck a one of a kind piece that will attract attention, make some noise, provide easy in and out for driver and passenger and have plenty of room in the back for groceries.

Exterior
A multi clear coat Viper Red covers the exterior of the steel body and provides a playing field for a pair of 1953 Buick headlights mounted on angle. A chrome custom front bumper frames the 1953 Chevy grille area and gives the front of this truck its unique look. A 1947 Ford hood and cab are highlighted by hand painted Florida orange pin striping. The split screen front windshield is divided by a sparkling chrome divider. Custom fabricated running boards that connect 1947 Ford front fenders to 1955 Chevy fenders are adorned with 2 chrome diamond plate grip steps. A Chevy bed has been completely re-done with solid oak boards separated by chrome metal mounting strips. The rear tailgate is airbrushed with a custom Eagle holding arrows and an olive branch in his talons and is bordered by a blue ribbon emblazoned with "Liberty". Black steel wheels with chrome trim rings, and a chrome bullet center cap complete the look.

Interior
Stitched black leather covers the headliner, and rear window surround and stereo speakers fit neatly into the stitched leather panels. Nissan black leather bucket seats fit comfortably into the cabin space, and are surrounded by the leather headliner, as well as Viper red painted door panels, and painted metal dash. A Lacarra banjo style steering wheel, backed by an adjustable column, and a chrome gauge instrument cluster finish off the interior cab space. Aftermarket air conditioning, and a hidden AM/FM radio, and a long shifter for the automatic transmission are creature comforts for this unique truck.

Drivetrain
A 305ci V8 engine is coupled with a 700 R4 4-speed automatic transmission, with overdrive, a S10 differential with a 3:42-1 ratio will plant you firmly into the leather seats, and provide music to your motoring ears, via dual side pipe exhausts. Handling is provided by the front suspension clip of an S-10 and is driven by power steering.

Documentation and Accessories
This truck comes with a custom fit cover, a mounted spare tire, and extra floor mats. A small plaque noting the builder and specs as well as the vin number of the original hood and cab is mounted under the hood and is watched over by a Jaguar hood ornament tucked over the radiator.

If you are in the market for something unique, with creature comforts, nice bling, and love the color red, look no further. Truly a one of a kind design, built by a race car driver/restorer/custom builder. Mechanically sound, a wonderful blend of many different vehicles, coming together to turn heads, and snap necks.
