Vehicle Description
1926 Ford Roadster Zipper "Lakes Modified"
Ah, the roadster. One step up from the motorcycle in creature
comfort, the open two-seater calls to the enthusiast who likes to
live life on a wing and a prayer...it has irresistible appeal.
Veteran hot rodders have reinvented the roadster countless times
and often the most successful efforts are based on traditional
concepts. An amalgamation of the just the right find, plus steel,
fiberglass, and aluminum, become the parts that go into the
builders mixing board, and the basis for what will be a creation
that is a rolling work of art.
This 1926 Ford Roadster is the complete Zipper chassis and Zipper
package. This build includes a newly refurbished engine, and
beautiful black paint, and artful pin striping. Lots of attention
to detail with regards to fit and finish, as well as insuring
recently upgraded sound mechanicals, went into the build of this
iconic looking roadster.
Exterior
In true "Lakes Modified" style, the passenger tub, suspension and
rear drive are all out there for everyone to gawk at the
craftsmanship, all the while harkening back to another era. Deep
Black paint with blue and red pinstripe highlighting, mix with
shining chrome accents, and polished stainless side exhaust, to
prompt the viewer to take a second and third look. Vintage wheels,
rings and moon hubcaps are surrounded by BF Goodrich P285/70 R15
rear tires, and P185/70 R14 BF Goodrich front tires.
Interior
The "tub" contains (2) bomber style aluminum bucket seats with
quality tan vinyl seat cushions, surrounded by tan vinyl door and
rear panels. Centered in a gloss black dash a polished aluminum
oval with an engraved V8 logo, houses a cluster of crucial
instrumentation. A chromed Bell steering wheel with black surround,
and machined aluminum gearshift knob are present, and the interior
floor is finished with black carpeting.
Drivetrain
A 360ci Chevy engine, Edelbrock intake and carburetors sit below a
1-piece front hinged hood. Freshened just 300 miles ago, new
aluminum heads, mild Lunati cam and lifters, moly rings, Levite
main and rod bearings, new oil pump, new timing set, a 350 TH
automatic transmission coupled to a 9-inch Ford rear, 4-wheel disc
brakes, and aluminum front and rear four bars, are just being
broken in. A 3.50:1 rear ratio helps to push you back into those
bomber style seats.
