Vehicle Description
Are you in the market for an instantly recognizable car from the
big screen and TV? Or are you possibly looking for an ultimate
sleeper car that will surprise everybody at your local car show
with a quick turn of the key? Well this '74 Ford Torino fits the
bill of both. Carrying a iconic Starsky and Hutch scheme, this is
as close to the real deal as you could come, the TV show only used
'74 - '76 Torinos for filming and this includes a working police
light and correct down to the 15" wheels. However, under the hood
you'll find an engine that the duo from the famous TV show would
have loved to have had slammed in the engine bay - A dual quad 428
Cobra Jet that is wildly fun to drive.
It starts with the body that features the correct Red and white
paint scheme made famous by the Starsky and Hutch crime-fighting
duo from the late 70's. It's definitely an older paint job, but
shows very well despite its age. We love cars like this because if
you glance at the underside, you'll see that this car hasn't been
cut up or battling rust. It's just got some driver type flaws in
the paint. But it's still a car that you would love to show off at
your local car show scene. And it's in the condition today, that
you could drive and enjoy it and not feel guilty about it.
However, the driveline is what separates this car from any other tv
car out there. Pop the hood and you'll find a dual quad 428ci V8
slammed in the engine bay. The real tv cars received everything
from 351's to 400s to a story where they slammed a 429 Lima motor
in the engine bay after they blew up the original engine, but to
the best of our knowledge, never did they have a 428 cobra jet. The
engine has aluminum heads, dual electric fans, MSD biller
distributor, MSD ignition, Holley 2x4bbl carbs, Ford SVO coil, Ford
Motorsports SVO valve covers, Cobra air filter, power steering and
power brakes to boot.
Underneath the car you've got a ridiculously solid floor that
hasn't been molested. Bolted to the potent engine is a beefed up C6
auto transmission that sends power to a Ford 9" rear. Power is
supplied to the pavement thanks to the correct 15" wheels that have
been wrapped in new rubber.
Fresh off of a tuneup and carrying with it a working police light,
this car is an absolute blast to look at and appreciate. But it's
even better behind the wheel! Don't miss your chance to own this
one-of-a-kind piece!
