Vehicle Description
Here's a terrific mix of originality and performance upgrades. This
1970 Chevrolet Malibu has only had one owner all its lifetime, and
along the way the fastback profile has been upgraded with a fresh
performance crate V8. So if you love iconic lines and great
stories, this is the perfect coupe.
Bright red paint and iconic Cragar SS wheels are upgrades that give
this one some muscle car stance. But as you look closer, what
you'll really enjoy are all the all the correct details. This car
was built before new bumper laws, and so those chrome kings not
only shine bright, but also they are integrated so nicely into the
overall design. Speaking of the design, when was the last time
you've seen trim so complete??? The Malibu has that bright line
that starts near the headlights and doesn't stop until it curves
upward and highlights the hardtop roof. It's part of a premium
masterful stroke that draws attention to sheet metal that's now so
legendary. While you often don't get to see these details on most
classics, this one has quite a unique story. The consignor
purchased it new in March of 1970, and it's been so well loved that
it has averaged less than 800 miles annually!
Inside, the factory-correct medium saddle interior feels fresh, and
it has a distinctive color against the exterior red. There was an
absolute eye for detail during restoration, because the details
look good, right down to the insignia trim on both rows of seats.
Plus, this one has been given the right upgrades to continue to be
a terrific cruiser. It includes the AM/FM/cassette stereo and
grippy wood-rimmed steering wheel. The addition of the AutoMeter
tach mounted on the column is a nice indication of a great upgrade
under the hood, too.
This classic Chevy has a classic 350 cubic-inch V8 under the hood.
But you can see from the bright presentation that this is a fresh
and powerful upgrade. It's a ZZ4 crate motor installed less than
450 miles ago. It includes 10:1 compression, aluminum heads, a
performance intake, headers, and Holley Street Avenger 670 CFM
four-barrel carburetor. The full package is known to be rated at
355 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque right out of the box. Plus, the
TH350 three-speed automatic transmission is a Gear Vendors unit
that includes overdrive and a B&M torque converter with
2200-2400 RPM stall. There's even a rebuilt 3.73 Positraction rear
end to complete this aggressive power package. More than just a
muscle car-like upgrade the overdrive transmission also works with
the power steering and front disc brakes to deliver an overall easy
cruising package.
Because of this Malibu's unique story, you'll be glad to get all
the right paperwork, including the original warranty card, owner's
manual, service manuals, and build receipts. There are also some
original pieces that come with the sale, too. So if you like your
classic both unique and upgraded, don't let this Chevy slip away.
