For Sale: 1962 Chevrolet Corvette in Grayslake, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This 600 horsepower Pro-touring Roadster has the best of everything. The professional build has been years in the making, beginning life as an original '62 Corvette with a clean, no-hit body. The transformation of this classic convertible into a modern sports car was an "open checkbook" endeavor. The best of everything, from comfort to performance can be found in this golden-black Corvette.

EXTERIOR

An excellent custom build begins with an excellent foundation. This Corvette began with an original no hit 1962 body, stripped to gel coat. She was re-gelled where necessary, gaps made uniform. Once she was re-gelled, painted primer in and blocked, she was treated to 10 coats of PPG's best. Like a finely dressed woman in an evening gown, her curves are accentuated by four coats of black, then two coats of gold pearl, and topped off with four coats of clear. From the inside, she looks like she is wearing that favorite little black cocktail dress. When the sun shines down, her body radiates in a shimmer of golden pearl, like golden obsidian.
Beautiful body work is nothing without the perfect jewelry to compliment it. To this end, all the chrome was triple-plated. All of the stainless, polished to mirror reflection. All of the glass, windshield included, is new. The convertible top material is genuine Mercedes Soft Top. And what outfit is complete without the right shoes? These wheels are custom one-off billet Schott SL-65's, polished aluminum with bronze ceramic coated highlights and splined center nut, shod in a staggered set of Pirelli P-Zero's.

INTERIOR

The caramel and chocolate custom coachwork on in the inside rivals that of an obsidian gold exterior. The custom leather is the finest available, sourced from the same tannery that supplies Ferrari. The hand-stitched glove leather interior looks as much home on Prada as it does Corvette. Being vintage does not mean you have to compromise on comfort either. The Dakota Digital VHX gauges give you both the classic analog sweep of factory gauges and the modern telematics readouts of contemporary sports cars. The interior accouterments are replete with power, Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Power Steering, and a custom MP3 and Bluetooth capable audiophile system. The race inspired Billet Specialties three spoke steering wheel flat bottomed for easy ingress and egress. The black leather wraps make for a tight grip as you weave from apex to apex. The billet Aluminum pedal assemblies are designed for quick heel-toe action as you shift through the gears.

ENGINE BAY

If the engine bay is the jewelry box, then this one is holding a diamond. This is no mail-order motor. This LS2 is professionally blue printed, balanced, and assembled. The foundation of this build is an LS2 block, crankshaft, and connecting rods. Forged 10 pistons in each pot, bored .010 over with low tension springs. New L92 heads are trimmed out in a complete Comp Cams valve train, lifters, springs, retainers, Manley Severe Duty valves and finished with a 5 angle valve job. The entire engine is polished aluminum or chrome plated, from the billet accessory drive assembly, Billet Specialties Valve Covers, to polished stainless steel headers. All the wires were carefully routed to be hidden. 8 EFI velocity stacks top off the entire affair. A brand new Tremec six-speed transmission backs this 600 horsepower beast and puts all that power right in your hand.

CHASSIS

Now, all the power and beauty in the world means nothing without control. Stronger, more rigid, and lighter than the original frame, the SRIII tube chassis provides that foundation. The front suspension is C-5 Corvette and the rear, a C-4 Corvette Independent rear. QA-1 Coil-over Shocks cover all four corners. Braking comes courtesy of hardened slotted and cross-drilled rotors and modern Corvette calipers. All hard lines are stainless steel, flexible lines are braided stainless steel. In keeping with the fit and finish of the rest of the build, all wiring is run through the chassis tubes, all fasteners are chrome plated or polished stainless. The entire chassis is powder coated bronze, accented with silver and red A-arms and suspension components.
