Although the Carrera for the 993 was offered in a rear-wheel all
all-wheel version, only the purists will take a rear-wheel drive
with a manual transmission. It was also offered with a mountain of
options both mechanical and cosmetic. The 993 was a completely
different car than the 964. Porsche claiming that fewer than 20% of
the new 993 was carried over from its predecessor. The 993 would be
Porsches final year for its ever so famous air-cooled design, a
concept that would make Porsche the most famous on the race
circuit. This would also prove to be a hard sell in the future for
true purists. The 993 is truly one of the best 911's ever made and
